Magnesium hydroxide is often a more environmentally friendly option than other alkaline chemicals, such as sodium hydroxide (NaOH) or calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)₂). It does not cause sudden pH spikes and is less corrosive, which makes it safer to use in the wastewater treatment process.
